Eva “Moreene” Murphy, 87, lifelong Tecumseh resident passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, in Tecumseh.

Eva “Moreene” Murphy, 87, lifelong Tecumseh resident passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, in Tecumseh.

She was born March 29, 1929, in Pottawatomie County, Tecumseh, Oklahoma, to Green G. and Lena Northcutt.

Moreene attended Tecumseh Public Schools and graduated from Tecumseh High School. She married Virgil Murphy on November 3, 1950 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. They lived in El Paso, Texas. while he served in the U.S. Army. He preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2003.

Moreene worked for many years as a hairdresser and in childcare in the Tecumseh/Shawnee communities. She resided in Colonial and Sunset nursing homes for the last few years of her life, where she was loved and appreciated for her generous and friendly spirit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Murphy; her daughter, Linda Lynn; and great-granddaughter, Diabella.

Moreene is survived by her granddaughter, Amber; grandson, Curtis Lynn; great-granddaughter Gabriella; son-in- law, Bob Lynn; niece, Suzanne Griffith; and lifetime friend, Dean Watson and her family; and many other family and friends.

Private interment will be held at Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
