Johnnie Robert Harris Jr., 89, of Kingston, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, in Durant.

Johnnie Robert Harris Jr., 89, of Kingston, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, in Durant.

He was born on Sept. 20, 1927, in Hugo, Oklahoma, to the late Johnnie Robert Harris Sr. and Lois Kernell Harris. Johnnie was raised in Hugo and later moved to Shawnee.

He married Wynema Bertice Taylor on Aug. 20, 1947, in Shawnee, and she preceded him in death on May 21, 1991.

Johnnie served in the United States Marines as a Rifle Marksman before going to work at Tinker Airforce Base as a Civil Service Painter for 29 years. He moved to Kingston in 1977 where he continued working as a second generation painter. Johnnie also helped start and served as a Fire Chief for the Texoma Fire Department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kingston and loved fishing and hunting.

He is survived by daughters: Jennifer Ward, Kingston, Oklahoma, Connie Danker and husband Tom, Meeker; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother: Doug Harris and wife Lois, Sand Springs, Oklahoma; sisters: Dorothy Hudson, Farmington, New Mexico, and Judy Schroeder, Oklahoma City.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one daughter: Lisa Ann Harris; one son: Chris Allen Harris; and one brother: Bob J. Harris.

Visitation will be Monday at Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Services will be Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m. at the Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at the Resthaven Cemetery, Shawnee.

Casket bearers will be Raymond Griffin, Jake Griffin, Joe Woods, Kegan Danker, Devin Danker, Mark Heitz and Derek Danker.
