Bethel Public Schools held their annual Veterans Day Assembly on Friday.

More than 80 local veterans attended, as well as all students Kindergarten through 12th grade students.

The featured speaker was Mr. Paul K. Crouch , USAF Senior Master Sergeant, Retired.  

Crouch served in the United States Air Force for more than 24 years and currently works for the Federal Aviation Administration.

Bethel also honored special guest, World War II Veteran Bill Sanders. Sanders joined the Navy in 1944 before he graduated high school. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor for 2 years. In 2009, the state of Oklahoma passed a law allowing Veterans who did not receive their High School diploma due to their service in the military to be able to receive an honorary diploma. Bethel was so honored to be able to present Sanders with his honorary diploma during the assembly Friday morning.  

Sanders is a resident of Midwest City. He and his wife have 5 children, 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grands. 

Mrs. Teresa Stark has graciously coordinated the assembly for Bethel Public Schools for eight years. Those who helped Stark make the assembly a success include, but not limited to, the Bethel Administration; Mr. Irby and the high school band; Mrs. Fuller and the high school choir; Mrs. Purin and the 4th grade students; Mr. Shell and the high school Ag students; Mrs. Lynch and the high school student council; Mrs. Mader, Mrs. Crouch, and the middle school student council; Mr. Gates and the upper elementary art students; the 5th grade students; and the lower elementary teachers and students.
