Aneta D. Tefertiller, of Shawnee, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, in Shawnee.

Aneta D. Tefertiller, of Shawnee, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, in Shawnee.

She was born Nov. 20, 1919, in Seminole to Joseph Grant and Ameda (Johnston) Hodges.

Aneta was raised in Shawnee and attended Shawnee Public Schools. She made her home in the Shawnee and Tecumseh area.

She married Elmore Tefertiller on April 17, 1937, in Shawnee, and he preceded her in death in 1976.

Aneta was a homemaker and worked at Gibson’s Department Store for 10 years as department manager of housewares.

She was a member of the First Christian Church. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed doing many other crafts and activities at the Shawnee Senior Citizens Center. Aneta loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmore Tefertiller; and son, Jerry Tefertiller.

Aneta is survived by her daughter, Jean Gamble of Shawnee; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, and from 1 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 20, at Cooper Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 21, at Tecumseh Cemetery with Chaplain Mike McCauley, Angelic Hospice of Shawnee, officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
