Dennis “Denny” Orin Johnson, 64, lifelong Tecumseh-area resident, passed away in his home after a short battle with cancer on Nov. 13, 2016.

He was born May 19,1952, in Shawnee to Cleo and Alma (Roberts) Johnson. He was a member of Shawnee High School class of 1970 and went on to enlist in the US Army.

As a young man Denny was known to enjoy a good bull riding. He was even known to ride a few here and there. He worked in the Shawnee/Tecumseh area and retired from Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center. After retirement he spent time working for DHS, Main Fruit Market and most recently Firelake Express Grocery Store.

Denny met the love of his life, Kathy and married her in 1993. Denny had two children, Justin and Kandy Johnson and gained three more that year, Kelly, Kenny and Jake.

Denny was a very devoted family man and spent many selfless years helping raise, foster and adopt children. He was one of a kind. He genuinely loved people and he never met a stranger. He was almost always able to put a smile on your face. Anyone that knew Denny knows he ALWAYS had a story to tell.

Denny enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Denny loved his kids dearly and would do anything for them. However, after those grandkids starting coming they seemed to be the light in his eyes. He was a man that truly lived and breathed for his grandkids. If you knew Denny at all I'm sure you have seen him in that old red beat up chevy hauling grandkids somewhere!
