Kenneth Gene Anderson, 88, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016.

He was born June 10, 1928, in Earlsboro and grew up in Shawnee. After graduating from Shawnee High School in 1947, he joined the United States Army and served two tours of duty and learned to program computers in the 1950s. After leaving the Army, he worked for the Navy as a civilian programmer until his retirement in 1990.

He loved flying and was a flight instructor for many years with the Navy Flying Club in Pensacola.

He is survived by his brother: Carl V. Anderson of Carmichael, California; a daughter and son-in-law: Debbie and Gary Dewey of Robinson, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law: Keith and Marilyn Kaye Anderson of Baton Rouge; a son: Kenneth Eric Anderson of Cloudcroft, New Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Pearl May Edminson Anderson Clark; his father: Franklin Pircie Anderson; and his partner of many years: Dorothy Bonifay. Dorothy's daughter, Evangela Enterkin, of Pensacola, was like a second daughter to him.

His grandchildren are Tamara Troyer, Brandon Troyer, Mike Dewey, Paula Dewey, Erin Anderson Kymes, and Kelly Rae Anderson. His great-grandchildren are Samantha Phillips, Brooke Springman, Brittney Troyer, Jeff Oliver, Matt Dewey and Courtney Voss. His great-great-grandchild is Xirin Oliver.

The family would like to express thanks to the fine staff at Sabal House and Regency Hospice, who took loving care of Ken during his final days.

Graveside service and his interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Shawnee at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19.
