Deputies have identified the suspect jailed in a the fatal stabbing of her roommate during an altercation earlier today.

Sheriff Travis Palmer said the stabbing occurred at the apartments of an assisted living center in rural Pottawatomie County in the area of Moccasin Trail Road and SH 99.

Two female roommates were reportedly arguing when one was fatally stabbed, he said.

Palmer said they do have the female suspect, identified as Phyllis Rhone, 55, in custody and she will be booked into jail on a complaint of first-degree murder. Formal charges have not been filed. 

Deputies are still working to notify the victim's relatives, Palmer said, so her name is not being released. She is reported to be in her 50s.
