Shawnee is about to have yet another option when choosing a restaurant for dinner.

The last few weeks has been spent preparing for Daliylah Greek House, at 2033 N. Kickapoo, to open in the next two to three weeks, owner Mazin Abujeish said Tuesday.

This is Abujeish's first restaurant in town.

“We opened a restaurant like this in Ardmore, and it has done very well,” he said. “People have really liked it.”

Abujeish said Shawnee seemed like a good location to try the same thing.

“It doesn't look like this kind of food has been here for awhile, and people like trying something different,” he said.

Abujeish said his menu is a healthy one.

“It's not fried; we don't use grease,” he said.

The Greek and Mediterranean food we serve is gyros, kabobs, skillets, hummus and salads, he said.

“Items are mostly grilled or baked,” he said.

The main thing holding the opening back at this point is getting workers in place.

“We expect to hire 10-12 employees,” he said.
