Thelma Irene Haley passed from this life to her heavenly home, Feb.10, 2017, at the age of 92.

She was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, to William and Ethel Hunt. She attended school in Tecumseh. She met Carl Haley on Halloween night in 1940 on a blind date. They fell in love and were soul mates for 54 years. They were married July 16, 1941. Irene was a member of the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church for 75 years. One man of the church called her the apple pie lady as she would make them for church dinners.

Irene was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In 1960, she went to work at Hamburger King for Willa and Bill Macsas. Through the years instead of employers they became like family. In 1970, she went to work for the Shawnee Schools cafeteria.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Haley; sisters: Eva Ray, LaVella Zimmerman, and Inez Thomason; brother, Humbert Hunt; and son-in- law, Jimmy Cearly.

She is survived by children: Marsha Brown (Benny), Beverly Cearly, and Victor Haley (Cecyle); grandchildren: Keith Brown (Stacy), Carlene Smith (Dan), Carla Cearly, Jennifer Sevigny (Gabe) and Jeffrey Haley (Lynda); great grandchildren: Elizabeth Dean (Josh), Trevor Smith, Ty Smith, Grant Sevigny, Payton Sevigny, Roman Sevigny, Sawyer Haley, and Garret Haley; great grandson, Cooper Dean; brother, Everett “Buddy” Hunt (Euleta); and sister-in- law, Cora Lee Hunt.
