TUPELO – The Indians of Asher will still be in the running for a spot at the state baseball tournament after splitting with Tupelo (0-1) and Buffalo Valley (3-2) Thursday in the Tupelo regional.

Trevor Martin fanned 15 batters and gave up one run on five hits in the 0-1 loss to Tupelo as the Indians were held hitless in the contest.

Preston Patten pitched the second game against Buffalo Valley for the win, striking out seven and giving up two runs on seven hits.

J.R. Milburn drove in two runs with a single in the fifth and finish the day with two hits. Patten and Devin McMan both singled in the contest for Asher's other two hits.

The Indians will play Tupelo at 10:30 today in a do-or-die situation. The winner of that game will have to beat Coleman two times if they are to make it to the state tournament.
