Tis the season to make a safety plan for the family! The plan needs to inform the youth on what to do if home alone, and to know where a safe haven would be for them, during a storm.

It is a good idea to have copies of all your bank, business and personal accounts, along with important papers, together in a brief case of safe deposit box; also, a change of clothes and a bag of non-perishable snacks and food, “just in case,” they might be needed, in times of emergencies.

As I sit here, writing this column, I wonder if someone may be a bit happier because of something I may write. I wonder if I may express a bit of joy or inspiration for some lonely heart, or bring joy into someone’s life that may be suffering with pain and/or an illness.

I ask God to anoint my thoughts and words, so I may offer a kind word or two to those that may be suffering pain, heartaches, or weary body from toiling all day long, causing the body to be unable to fall asleep.

Lord, I ask myself, “Did I help anyone today; did I bring a smile to some weary soul’s face? Is there anyone that was or has been, encouraged by me, giving them hope for tomorrow; or did I just pass them by, unnoticed?”

As the sun fades in the west, Lord Jesus, I pray that I left a bit of kindness along life’s pathway, bringing joy and love into a lonely heart, or disheartened soul. Or, perhaps, I touched someone to pause, asking themselves, “What kind word or deed, have I done for anyone else, lately?”

As I lay my head down in slumber, I pray, Lord, that You approve of my day’s activities, as I tried to do Your will. And, Lord, if I failed in some way, I pray I do better tomorrow! Amen.

1 Peter 2:15 – “For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.”
