PERKINS – The No. 4 in Class 5A Prague Lady Devils beat No.5 Chandler 9-8 and No. 12 Chisholm 10-6 Thursday to earn a spot at next Thursday's state tournament in Oklahoma City.

Caitlyn Cox went 4-4 and Macyn Anderson drove in two runs to power the Prague girls past Chisholm in the 10-6 contest.

Tied at 3 in the top of the second, Anderson singled to left to score Cox and Kirsten Goodman and take a 5-3 lead in the midst of a six-run rally. Goodman and Rachel Rumsey both singled to drive in a run for a 7-3 advantage in the rally.

Alexis Prewitt and Raygan Gillispie each drove in two runs and Cox, Pewitt, Gracie Hightower and Josie Goodman had two hits apiece to edge Chandler.

Up 3-1 in the bottom of the third, Gillispie hit a double to bring in Goodman and Beth Denny for a four-point advantage. Hightower doubled in the fifth to score a run and Anderson hit a sacrifice in the sixth to go ahead 9-3.

The Lady Lions rallied with five runs in the top of the seventh but came up just short of a comeback.

Seedings and times for the state tournament are expected to be announced Monday.
