When Shawnee City Commissioners meet Monday, several agenda items will be up for their consideration.

After much planning and careful consideration, Fire Station No. 2 may finally be ready for its remodel.

At Monday's meeting commissioners will consider awarding a bid for the Fire Station No. 2 Rehab Project.

Shawnee Fire Chief Dru Tischer said, ”As was discussed during the City Commission Meeting on April 3, 2017, we received five bids from contractors to complete the construction phase on the Station 2 renovation project.”

Since that time, Tischer has researched the bids and has concluded that the lowest and best bid was received from Jim Cooley Construction of Oklahoma City.

“At this time, I am respectfully recommending bid award for the construction phase of this project ... in the amount of $1,309,620,” Tischer said.

In other business, City Manager Justin Erickson plans to share administrative reports about some upcoming public meetings.

According to the agenda, the city plans to increase its health insurance contribution to absorb half of the increase of the 2017-2018 Blue Cross Blue Shield rates for its non-union employees.

A presentation before the commission is planned by Vyve Communications regarding customer service and technical enhancements.

Mayor Richard Finley is set to make the following proclamations:

• May 2017 is Better Hearing Month;

• May 2017 is Community Action Month;

• May 7-13, 2017, is National Travel and Tourism Week; and

• May 14-20, 2017, is National Law Enforcement Week.

On the Municipal Authority agenda, commissioners may authorize a quantities increase to current pipe bursting.

On the Airport Authority agenda, the board may consider a utility easement with OG&E for new electrical lines(s) for Delta Wings Equipment LLC on the Shawnee Regional Airport.

Also, board members may approve an amendment to the land lease agreement between the Airport Authority and Shawnee Lube, LLC.

The 6:30 p.m. meeting will take place on Monday in the Commission Chambers at City Hall.
