Ralph Doyle Roberts, 72, of Atoka, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at an Oklahoma City hospital.
Ralph Doyle Roberts, 72, of Atoka, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, in Oklahoma City.
He was born Nov. 17, 1944, in Shawnee to Ralph and Lettie Roberts.
He was a graduate of Shawnee High School and attended East Central University.
He owned and operated Doyle’s Plumbing, Heating and Air from 1974-1979. He worked various oilfield jobs from then until 1989, at which time he worked for Lewis A. Hembree Production and did so until right before he passed away.
On Nov. 1, 1966, he married Shirley Ruth Stewart in the home of her parents in Atoka.
Ralph was drafted into the U.S. Army on March 1, 1966. He served in Vietnam from 1966-1967; from there he left the military in 1967 as a Sergeant E5.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lettie Roberts, and nephew, Dale Scarborough.
Survivors include his wife: Shirley Ruth Roberts; daughter and son-in-law: Don and Janelle Gatz of Meeker; son and daughter-in-law: John and Stacey Roberts of Shawnee; grandchildren and spouses: Jeremy and Chestney Smith, Allen and Candace Gatz, Troy and Katie Gatz, Marshal Gatz and Jalynn Lucy; great-grandchildren: Gracelynn Rose Smith, Brin’lee Nichole Gatz, Baylee Alyn Gatz, Haiden Eleise Gatz, Carter Troy Gatz, and great-grandchild #6 on the way; sisters: Shirley Bobo of Hurst, Texas, and Kathyrn Scarbrough of Jenks; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends, and one lonesome dog, Shena.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Bobby Roe officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Butler Cemetery in Lane.
