Phyllis K. Taylor, 76, lifelong resident of Shawnee, passed from this life Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at her home.
Phyllis K. (Moore) Taylor, 76, lifelong resident of Shawnee, passed from this life Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at her home.
She was born July 19, 1941, to Leslie and Cora Lee (Jones) Moore in Shawnee.
Phyllis was raised in Shawnee and attended Shawnee Public Schools. She graduated with the class of 1959 from Shawnee High School.
She married Kenneth R. “Butch” Taylor on Nov. 7, 1959, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 2015.
Phyllis’s life career was spent as a dedicated and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved raising her family along with the children in her community. Phyllis was the community “Nana” and was known as Nana Phyllis. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the focal point of her life; she referred to them as her “heartbeats.” It was beyond a shadow of a doubt that her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was the fuel that fed her desire to fight. Her love for her "heart beats" never failed but cancer had taken its toll on her body and it finally gave out.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. “Butch” Taylor; granddaughter, Courtney Ann Taylor; son, Ken Taylor Jr.; and her parents.
Those left to cherish her memories are daughter, Vicki (Taylor) Marks of Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Tracy Taylor of Tecumseh; seven grandchildren, Lindsay and Jeremy Larson of Moore, Meghan and John Wood of Harrah, Hannah Marks of Shawnee, Madison Taylor of Tecumseh, Jake Taylor of Tecumseh, Preslie Taylor of Tecumseh, and Lauren Taylor of Tecumseh; four great-grandchildren, Peyton Larson, Brayden Larson, John Edison Wood and Liam Wood; sister and brother-in-law, Leslie (Moore) and Mike Andricos of Locust Grove, Virginia; many loving friends and extended family, including two special nephews, Greg and Rachel Andricos and Steve and Catharine Andricos and their children.
The family has designated The National Marfan Foundation, 22 Manhasset Avenue, Port Washington, NY 11050 as appropriate for memorials in lieu of flowers.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 30, at Praise Assembly of God with Mike Andricos and Mary Whiteman officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
