William H. Stewart Sr. passed away Oct. 30, 2017, in Shawnee. He went peacefully surrounded by family.

William H. Stewart Sr. passed away Oct. 30, 2017, in Shawnee. He went peacefully surrounded by family.

William was born in Shawnee on Feb. 8, 1937, to Hubert A and Osie Belle Stewart. He was raised in Shawnee and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1955. He worked as a machinist, primarily in the aircraft industry and Central Plastics until retirement.

William married Barbara Lucas, the love of his life, on Sept. 3, 1955. They were married for over 60 years. During that time, they moved to California where they raised three children, Dianne, Bill Jr. and Susan. They returned to Shawnee in 1979.

William loved his family well and adored children. He was generous and caring. He was an avid sports fan, Sooners being a favorite. He spent many years volunteering with Shawnee Youth Baseball. William was a musician and loved spending time playing guitar and singing with family and friends. Other hobbies included gardening, woodworking, feeding and watching birds and working newspaper puzzles.

William was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, parents and siblings.

Survivors include his son Bill Stewart Jr. and wife Katie of Stevenson Ranch, California, daughters Dianne Lippman and husband Bill, of Shawnee, and Susan Fulton and husband Lloyd of Shawnee; grandchildren: Matthew Lippman and wife Alicia, Adrianne Thompson and husband Kevin, Caroline Sharp and husband Matt, Michael Jordan, Jenna Befort and husband Ken, Amanda Jordan-Lisenbery, Andrew Stewart and Shayna Stewart; great-grandchildren: Alexus and Brianna Befort, Kate and Caroline Thompson, Emma and Paisley Lisenbery and Campbell Anne Sharp.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 10 at Resthaven.
