Students can enter a VFW art contest.
Students must be in grades 9, 10, 11, or 12.Students must attend school in the same state as the sponsoring Auxiliary. Home schooled students are eligible: foreign-exchange students are not.
Entries must have been done during the current school year-note that you must have your teacher's signature. Each student may submit only one entry.
Each entry will be judged on the originality of concept, presentation, and patriotism and clarity of ideas; the design technique: total impact of work: and uniqueness.
Art must be on paper or canvas. Water color, pencil, pastel, charcoal, tempera, crayon, acrylic, pen-and-ink, or oil may be used. Digital art is not accepted.
Student deadline is March 31, participants must submit entries to Shawnee Post 1317 Auxiliary Scholarship Chairman by this date. The first place winner will be sent to the Oklahoma Department VFW chairman and will be judged by April 15. From Department entries must be received by May 5. At all levels funds will be as awards - 1st place at National is $10,000 a free trip for two days at the Auxiliary National Convention .
