Charles “Warren” Blassingame, age 68, of Tecumseh, left this world for a place of peace and no pain Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at Cornerstone Hospital in Shawnee.

Charles “Warren” Blassingame, age 68, of Tecumseh, left this world for a place of peace and no pain Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at Cornerstone Hospital in Shawnee.

He was born June 17, 1949, in Shawnee, the third child of Robert Lowell and Louise (Shorney) Blassingame.

Warren attended school at North Rock Creek and Strother High School.

In 1967 he met his soul mate Kathy Hopper. They were married June 13, 1970, in Lawton. They were married 47 years, but united for 50.

Warren was a trim carpenter by trade. He enjoyed any sport containing a ball be it basketball, football, soccer, golf, tennis and even volleyball. He was an avid OU and NY Yankees fan. His favorite pastime was fishing and his catches provided many fish fries for the family.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Randy Joe Blassingame and Michael Dale Blassingame; and father-in-law, A.D. “Dude” Hopper.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathy Hopper Blassingame of the home; daughter, Tami Hyatt of Shawnee; grandson, Derrick Chance Baize and wife Liberty Baise and great-grandson, Grayson Baize of Kentucky; granddaughter, Morgan Rachell “Mati” Gray of Tecumseh; son, Russell Warren Blassingame of Tecumseh; grandson, Tylor Warren Blassingame and wife Faith Blassingame and great-granddaughter, Salem Arielle Grace Blassingame of Midwest City; sister, Sharon Helm of Rusk, Texas; brother, Dean Blassingame of Seminole; mother-in-law, Lois Hopper of Tecumseh; sister-in-law, Lynn Touchette and husband Michael Touchette of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother-in-law, Randy Hopper of Tecumseh; sister-in-law, Tina Fullbright and husband Danny Fullbright of Tecumseh; brother-in-law, David Hopper of Tecumseh; one uncle; two aunts; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Charlie the cat.

His celebration of life service will be 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 15, at the Evangelistic Center on Hwy 177 in Shawnee with Lynn Touchette and Pastor Noah Willoughby officiating. A private family service will be held for interment at a later date. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers for all their care and compassion the last few years with a special thank you to Dr. Damera for always being there when Kathy needed him.
