Clyde E. Zurmehly Jr., 91, of Norman, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at a Norman hospital.

Clyde E. Zurmehly Jr., 91, of Norman, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at a Norman hospital.

He was born May 10, 1926, in Lima, Ohio, to Clyde Elwood and Cleta (Rehm) Zurmehly Sr.

He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1944 and attended OBU and OU.

He worked as a postal inspector for the U.S. Postal Service and the Shawnee Postal Service.

He married Oleta Jean Hiser on June 12, 1947, in Shawnee.

He was an all-around athlete in basketball, football, track and golf in high school and also while at OBU and OU. The family had C & N Sports Shop. Clyde volunteered at the Norman Police Dept. and Trails Golf Course.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, sister and brother-in-law and a nephew and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include his wife: Jean Zurmehly of the home; two daughters: Cathy Boggs and Gina Thompson; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother: Charles Zurmehly.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 16, at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Clour officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
