A Pottawatomie County jury hearing a drug-related case began deliberations late Wednesday afternoon, but in the end, the defendant decided to enter a plea.

The trial of Marq H. Alderman, 45, began Tuesday on felony charges of trafficking in illegal drugs and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Before the jury returned with a verdict, Alderman chose to enter a guilty plea and received a 10-year prison term in the trafficking count and was ordered to pay fines and costs in both counts. His sentence runs concurrently with a previous charge and he will receive credit for jail time served since April.

Alderman is being held in the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center until he his returned to the Department of Corrections.
