Gordon Earl Tibbs Jr., 59, of Celina, Texas, former Shawnee resident, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018.

Our most gracious and loving Lord has brought home Gordon Earl Tibbs Jr. at the age of 59. He left this earth on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1958, in Shawnee to Gordon Earl Tibbs, Sr. and Shirley Tibbs. He was raised in Shawnee and was a student at Dale High School.

He was a long-time business consultant for the oil industry. He loved to laugh, mostly at his own jokes and he spoke fluent smart aleck. He loved OU football whether winning or losing, preferably winning.

He married the love of his life Denise Tibbs on Nov. 25, 2006. They lived happily together in Celina, Texas. He loved camping and fishing. Especially, with his wife and his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, Gordon Earl Tibbs Sr.; his mother, Shirley and her husband Bill Wise; brother, Jim Plantz; brother, Rick Tibbs and his wife Donna Tibbs; sister, Karen Lowery; and nephew, Donnie Vickery Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Tibbs of the home; daughter, Tisha Sheppard and partner Michael Payne of Shawnee; daughter, Jessica Watson and husband Chris of Dale; daughter, Kayla Dingus and husband Jack of Shawnee; daughter, Meghan Gainey and partner Alfredo Suarez of Celina, Texas; son, Daniel Gainey and partner Mikalynn of Millington, Tennessee; son, Justin Gainey of Charleston, South Carolina; daughters, Amy Perkins and Cindy Jackson; and sisters, Nancy Sliger and husband Jack of Tecumseh, and Sharon Cotton and husband Dennis of Norman; grandchildren, Corbin, Chance, Colby, Lucky, Joshua, Hunter, Skyler, Brooklynn, Landon, Teagan, Josh, Jake, Raelynne, Andrew, Cameron, Devin, Cayden, and Demarcus; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family has designated American Diabetes Association, Oklahoma Office, 4334 NW Expressway, #265, Oklahoma City, OK 73316 as appropriate for memorials.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19, and continue through service time. Family gathering to greet friends and family will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19, at Cooper Funeral Home.

Service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 20, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Rod Sims, Living Faith Fellowship in Shawnee, officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
