PRAGUE — Stroud, behind productive efforts in the second and fourth quarters, ousted McLoud from the 66 Conference Tournament with a 33-20 consolation victory Friday.
Stroud’s 10-2 dominance in the second quarter put McLoud in a 16-10 halftime hole. The Tigers wrapped up the game with a 12-4 fourth quarter edge.
Ashlyn Young keyed Stroud’s scoring with 9. Kayla Hyde added 7.
Jadyn Young and Katlyn Hughey knocked down a 3-point field goal apiece for the victors.
McLoud coach Doug Armstrong said six of his top eight players have been recently plagued by sickness. “All but one of them tried to play,” Armstrong said.
For McLoud (6-10), Katelyn Hoover was the leading scorer with 6.
Stroud hit 62.5 percent (10 of 16) of its charity shots. Ashlyn Young was 5 of 8.
McLoud had a woeful free-throw experience at 23.5 percent (4 of 17).
Stroud will conclude its tourney stay today against Seminoile.
McLoud’s next action will be Tuesday night against visiting Mt. St. Mary.
