A new business is coming to Macomb.
Waller Ice, LLC, is expanding their business from ice vending machines to a plant that can produce an assortment of ice products.
“We live in Macomb and for us one of the biggest things is we will be able to tap into the local workforce here in Macomb, Waller Ice, LLC Owner Don Waller said.
There is a possibility of Waller hiring some of the local high school students as well.
“We've already talked to the Superintendent at Macomb about the possibility of employing a few of the high school kids,” he said.
Construction of the new facility will begin the third week of February. They are finalizing plans on the 3,000 square foot building this week, Waller said.
On Monday, The Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners, on behalf of the Pottawatomie County Economic Development group, agreed to help out Waller Ice with a $75,000 donation to help with construction costs.
“I think it's going to enhance our community immensely,” District 2 Commissioner Randy Thomas said. “It's going to be a new building to the south of the new District 2 building but most of all, I'm really excited for a new business coming to Macomb.”
Waller Ice currently has vending machines in Shawnee, Tecumseh, Stratford and Seminole.
