A suspect is jailed after the pursuit of a stolen vehicle ended in a crash.

Shawnee Police Cpl Vivian Lozano-Stafford said it was about 9:19 a.m. Wednesday when a car that was running to warm up outside of Remington Apartments was reported stolen.

Through use of the car's GPS system, officers later discovered the vehicle was parked outside Walmart, then it was southbound on Harrison Street near the McDonald's.

Police initiated a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified at Hunter McKee, 21, allegedly continued eastbound on Independence Street, she said, passing vehicles and running stop signs.

The vehicle continued east before turning onto Brangus Road, where the driver lost control of the vehicle, Lozano-Stafford said.

After a short foot pursuit through a creek, McKee was arrested on a complaint of possession of a stolen vehicle and endangering others while eluding a police officer, jail records show. Formal charges have not been filed, but case reports will be turned over to the district attorney's office.

McKee remains jailed in the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center.
