Sacred Heart Road will soon undergo major repairs.

At Monday's Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board announced in order for District 3 to move forward with Service Transportation Program (STP) funds, a section of Sacred Heart Road must undergo preliminary work.

“The project will completely straighten out the road and eliminate and S-Curves,” District 3 Commissioner Eddie Stackhouse said.

Plans are in place and the county is working on obtaining a permit from the Corps of Engineers to straighten the road. A permit is required to change the path of Bruno Creek that runs near Sacred Heart Road.

Total cost of the road renovation is $2.8 million. STP funds will cover $500,000 of the project.
