Area firefighters from Pink, Tecumseh, Macomb, and Citizen Potawatomi Nation battled a wildfire in the Pink area, with crews near Sandy Rock and Okay Roads most of Tuesday afternoon.
Tecumseh Fire Chief Aaron Williams said about 75 acres burned, but no structures were lost and no injuries were reported.
Williams said air tanker support from the Ardmore Airpark assisted by making six fire retardant drops to fire zones in that area.
According to the Oklahoma Forestry Services Daily Fire Situation Report for Tuesday, Red Flag Warnings were in effect Tuesday all across Oklahoma with very low relative humidity and strong northwest winds.
Forestry officials reported that any fires that started would likely grow quickly and fires that become established would exhibit very rapid to extreme rates of fire spread. The remainder of the week is forecast to be dry with persistent fire danger in place.
Pottawatomie County is not currently under a burn ban, but there is a high wildfire danger.
