A free community health screening will be held April 6 in Shawnee.
Sponsored by the Shawnee Lions Club, along with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma, Integris Health and Advanced Body scan, the free events includes several screenings and tests.
Tests will be included for diabetes, glaucoma, high blood pressure, visual acuity, cholesterol, lung capacity and bone density as well as body mass index and obesity information.
The event will be held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 120 S. Center, which is the parking lot of Community Market of Pottawatomie County.
No appointments are needed, although children under 18 will need parental permission.
Last year, the same program had 57 people go through the screens, with more than 40 found to have health problems.
Those persons were given referral cards to the Thursday evening free clinics at the Health Department.
This year, the Lions Club says they are doing a special outreach to a colony of homeless people in the area.
Some of the folks involved in Blue Zones have offered to help with the event as well.
