The Seminole State College Art Club is encouraging all faculty, staff, students and community members to come to campus hungry on Wednesday, April 18th.

Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Raymond Harber Fieldhouse lobby on campus, members of the SSC Art Club will be holding their third annual Chili Bowl Cook-Off. Chili will be sold for $5 per bowl. This price includes a drink, crackers and condiments of onions and cheese.

The art department has also worked to create a wide selection of ceramic bowls – over 100 – that will be available for purchase at the fundraising event. The bowls, which come in a variety of colors, shapes and sizes, may be purchased for an additional $5 each.

Entries are currently being accepted for the chili cook-off. Campus and community members are welcome to participate. Entries will be judged by a five-panel board and a trophy will be awarded to the winner to hold for one year. Last year’s winner was Dana Alsbrook from Wewoka – wife of Aaron Alsbrook who serves as pastor at the Wewoka Church of Christ.

If you have a special chili recipe and would like to support the SSC Art Club, contact SSC Assistant Professor of Art Angela Church for a registration form. Church serves as the College’s Art Club sponsor. She can be reached by phone at 405-382-9564 or by email at
