Knights Auto Club of Shawnee is hosting its 33rd annual car show in Boy Scout Park, 1400 East Main June 23, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Knights Auto Club of Shawnee is hosting its 33rd annual car show in Boy Scout Park, 1400 East Main June 23, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Knights Auto Club will be giving away awards for the top two vehicles in 35 different classes, along with awards for Best of Show, Best Interior and Best Paint. There are motorcycle and truck classes as well.

Since the passing of founding member, Richard Wright, the club has given away a very special award.

The Richard Wright Memorial Award will be given to the vehicle the judges feel Wright would pick as a standout car.

Local sponsors have donated several prizes that are given out during the event.

There are several activities planned for the younger car enthusiasts. Events will include a balloon toss, bubble gum chewing contest and a hula hoop contest.

A portion of the proceeds raised from the car show will go to a local charity Kim’s Kids.

Admission is free and those wishing to register a vehicle in the show can do so for $15 at Fred’s Tire and Battery Highland Street location, S&S Salvage and Shawnee Car Paints.

Late registration can be done for $20 the day of the show.
