Charles Edward Lamirand, age 82 and a resident of Asher, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman.

Charles Edward Lamirand, age 82 and a resident of Asher, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman.

A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, June 4, with full military honors at Wanette Cemetery in Wanette under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate.

Charles was born in Wanette to Elmore Travis Lamirand and Linda G. (VanSchuyver) Lamirand. He earned an associate degree and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Navy as Chief Petty Officer -E7 after serving for more than 22 years. Charles also retired as Captain for the Department of Corrections in Lexington.

He married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Blythe on March 5, 1955, in Purcell, and she preceded him in death Jan. 25, 2015.

Charles had a passion for old tractors and farming, and he loved being with his family and friends.

He is survived by two sons, Terry Lamirand of Wellington, Kansas, and Billy Lamirand and wife, Connie of Asher; three daughters, Carol Davis of Shawnee, Carrie Malone and husband, Ronald of Asher, and Bobbie Wauahdooah and husband, Aaron of Asher; two brothers, Leroy “Roy” Reynolds of Owasso, and Charles “Ray” Reynolds of Newalla; two sisters, Glenda Briscoe of Stillwater, and Sharon Gage and husband, Claude of Harrah; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lamirand; parents, Elmore and Linda Lamirand; one son, Charles Edward Lamirand Jr.; and one great-granddaughter, Sadi Malone.
