Blue Zones Project® in Pottawatomie County today celebrated the validation of Chicago Street Deli as the newest Blue Zones Project Approved restaurant in Pottawatomie County. To date, five local restaurants have achieved designation as Blue Zones Project Approved™ - The Owl Shoppe, The Café at St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital, The Healthy Hippo, Paul’s Place Steakhouse and now Chicago Street Deli. Chicago Street completed the Restaurant Pledge process, which includes adding healthier menu options, optimizing menus to highlight healthy choices and making changes to the dining environment.

One key component of Chicago Street’s approval was the creation of a new menu containing: three Blue Zones Inspired entrees, two kid’s meals and a dessert all made with whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables. They also offer a fruit-infused unsweet tea that changes weekly with fresh new flavors. As a restaurant that regularly provides catering, Chicago Street’s approval will also make it easier for worksites and other organizations to provide healthy options when serving food for a crowd.

Brought to Pottawatomie County through an innovative sponsorship by the Avedis Foundation in collaboration with Sharecare, Inc. and Blue Zones, LLC, Blue Zones Project is a community-by-community well-being improvement initiative designed to enable community members to live longer, happier lives with lower rates of chronic diseases and a higher quality of life.
