The REACT EMS board has appointed Willis Snowden to serve as interim director of the emergency medical service with its main headquarters in Shawnee.

Chris Thomas, chairman of the REACT EMS board, said longtime director Greg Reid resigned/retired last week, leaving the vacancy.

Snowden, who was one of two serving REACT as deputy chief under Reid, has been appointed interim director and will serve that post until the board decides what to do next.

Thomas said Reid, who served as director of REACT EMS since its inception, was there to oversee REACT grow with its new headquarters on Airport Drive, along with new substations in Prague, on Independence Street in Shawnee and in Tecumseh, as well as the establishment of the new county unit in south Pottawatomie County, among many other advancements.
