A Pottawatomie County judge on Thursday set a $20,000 bond for a Shawnee Police sergeant who was arrested and jailed late Wednesday night on a child abuse complaint.

Sgt. Darryl Bordeaux, a 20-year veteran of the Shawnee Police Department, remained jailed in the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center Thursday afternoon.

Formal charges have not been filed.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation reports agents arrested Bordeaux at about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Bordeaux, 52, has been placed on paid administrative leave from the Shawnee Police Department while this case is being investigated.

No other details have been released, but officials have said the allegations involve the officer's personal life.

Late Wednesday night, the Shawnee Police Department issued a written statement regarding the arrest.

“The Shawnee Police Department does not condone child abuse or domestic violence of any kind and takes actions to prevent these types of abuse within our community,” the release reads. “Shawnee Police Department will do anything within its resources to apprehend individuals in these types of crimes. The City of Shawnee and the Shawnee Police Department will continue to cooperate with all agencies during this process.”
