Mary Margaret Miller Wasson, 80, of Shawnee, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018.

Memorial services will be 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, at Walker Funeral Service Chapel.

Mary was born May 5, 1938, in Tucumcari, New Mexico, to Jack and Margaret (Wells) Miller.

She was a graduate of Central High School in Oklahoma City and earned her associates degree in nursing from Seminole Junior College. She worked as a registered nurse in ICU at Shawnee Medical Center, was a Home Health nurse, and was the campus nurse at OBU for 11 years where she retired in 2002.

She met Doyle Wasson at a dance at Mercy Hospital where she was a nursing student, and had him at “Hi!” They were soon married — on May 5, 1959, in Oklahoma City,

Mary was a Bluebird and Campfire Girls Leader, a member of Beta Sigma Phi, and was active in the Republican Party. She enjoyed traveling, taking Alaskan and Caribbean cruises, and going to Hot Springs to the Oaklawn Race Track. She was known for her green thumb and her loving heart.

She was the most precious gift to all who knew her, and she has ascended to the loving arms of Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary is survived by her husband, Doyle Wasson, of the home; daughter: Donna Wasson of Mill Creek, Washington; son: Darrell Wasson of Shawnee; brother: Ron Miller of Fredericksburg, Texas; niece: Kara Miller; nephew: Jimmy Miller; and nephews: Mike Wasson of Hurst, Texas, and David Wasson of Dahlonega, Georgia.
