OKTAHA — In a battle of perennial state contenders, Oktaha squeezed past Dale 4-2 Monday.
Dale, by virtue of single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, led 2-1 going into the bottom of the sixth, only to surrender three runs.
Rodden Reddon cracked a solo homer for the victors while Colton Thomas doubled.
Tanner Colllins, who had two of Dale’s four singles, drove in a run. Karson Hunt added a run-scoring single.
Dale starter Ryan Henry gave up just one run and one hit in five innings. Reliever Jared Rogers suffered the loss after surrendering three runs and three hits.
Oktaha pitcher Korey Walker fashioned a five-hitter which included eight strikeouts and two walks. Fifty two of his 80 pitches were strikes.
The Pirates, 5-2, will be home today for a 4:30 challenge from Stonewall. Dale will participate in the Roff Tournament Thursday.
