DALE — David Herring, Jared Rogers and Austin Custar shelled out two hits apiece Tuesday, igniting Dale to a 5-3 triumph over Stonewall.
Karson Hunt, Custar and Herring doubled as Dale improved to 6-2.
The Pirates employed three pitchers — starter Jaxon Wright, Jono Johnson and Herring. Wright, who went 3 1/3 innings, gave up one run (earned) on four hits. He fanned two, walked four and was credited with the win.
Herring earned the save in the seventh inning. He didn’t allow a hit and walked one.
Dale broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the fourth. Ike Shirey plated a run with a single on a 2-1 count and Herring drove in a run by singling on a 2-2 count. Shirey drove in two runs on the day.
Jarrett Ellis of Stonewall cracked a solo home run. Bryce Holland and Ty Humphers of Stonewall had two hits each with both doubling.
Karson Hunt of Dale had a sacrifice fly.
Dale will square off against Fort Cobb at 2:30 Thursday in first-round action of the Roff Tournament.
