ROFF — A disastrous fourth inning was too much for Dale to overcome Friday as it fell 7-6 to Oktaha at the Roff Tournament.
Dale led 4-1 entering the fourth but Oktaha tallied six runs, finalized by Kayden Howe’s bases-loaded roundtripper.
Dale responded with single runs in the fifth and sixth but couldn’t score in the seventh.
The Pirates, 7-3, banged out 12 hits but stranded nine baserunners. Leadoff batter David Herring had three singles while teammates Jared Rogers, Jono Johnson and Tanner Collins had two hits. Collins and Rogers doubled.
Collins recorded a team-high three runs batted in.
Cooper Hunt started on the mound for Dale. Hunt allowed seven runs, six hits and fanned six. Ryan Haney, who went the next two innings, didn’t surrender a run on two hits. Herring didn’t give up a hit over the final inning.
Dale will conclude Roff Tournament action today at 2 p.m. with a third-place game against the loser of Friday’s Roff-Wright City game.
