MIDWEST CITY — Shawnee went 2-1 Friday at the Carl Albert Varsity Tournament, compiling victories over Choctaw (25-12, 22-25, 15-6) and Putnam North (25-17, 25-14) before falling to Carl Albert (26-28, 16-25).

Ashley Kasterke had a banner outing with 22 kills, 18 digs, 3 aces and 2 blocks. Brooklyn Fluke recorded 26 kills, 14 digs and 4 aces.

Scotlyn Britt notched 8 digs and 6 aces while Olivia Barlean finished with 26 digs and Shyra Crowley notched 7 kills.

“We started out strong against Choctaw but made a few errors in the second set to make us go to three sets against them,” SHS coach Julia Holland said. “We played really well against Putnam City. We then played Carl Albert and did not start out strong but started playing well at the end of the first set. The second set did not end well, and we struggled to play our defense and get our offense going.”

Shawnee, second in its pool for the day, will play in Saturday’s gold bracket. The Wolves will open against McGuinness at 11 a.m.
