The Cops N Kids event will be from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee, 1700 E. Independence. Admission is free, and children and families are encouraged to attend.

The first 1,000 children to sign in will get a free T-shirt and goodie bag, and Kona Ice will give the first 1,000 kids a free snow cone.

There will be over 30 law enforcement agencies and over 10 community organizations for families to visit, along with plenty of activities for all the family to enjoy such as games, inflatables, police rides, police and fire obstacle, K-9 demo, helicopters, dunk tank, Firestone Tires driving simulator, a petting zoo and lots more. Children also are encouraged to bring their bicycles for the bike rodeo and maintenance of their bike.

As part of the event, hot dogs, chips, cookies, and water bottles will be free, although additional food may be purchased from Don Ciro’s taco truck and The Blue Greek food truck.

To help families who may not have transportation get to the event, several local churches are organizing an effort to use church vans for pickups.

Those pickups will be at noon at three locations: 329 N. Pesotum, 1200 N. Tucker and the Prince Hall community. Those who ride the vans must sign a waiver, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

The west entrance to the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center off U.S. 177 will be closed as part of the event.
