PRAGUE – Despite giving up eight runs in the sixth inning, the Prague Lady Red Devils hung on to beat McLoud 12-11 Monday evening.
Prague managed two runs in the second inning and the Lady Redskins responded with three runs of their own in the top of the fourth. Prague regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth with a three-run inning of their own.
After four innings, Prague led 5-3.
The Lady Red Devils extended their lead to 7-3 in the fifth.
McLoud tacked on eight runs in the top of the sixth for an 11-7 lead. Prague continued the consistent scoring attack with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the sixth.
Prague scored three more in the seventh for a walk-off 12-11 victory.
Josi Goodman led the way for Prague, going 4 for 5 with four RBI and two runs scored.
Prague's Taylor Hodges, Diana Manning, Demi Manning and Jaycee Johnson all added two hits apiece. Beth Denney and Adisyn Auld each recorded one hit in the win. Denney and Hodges finished with two RBIs each.
Brittany Harwell, Auld, and Johnson all had one RBI in the win.
McLoud's Jessie Wooten led the Lady Redskins, going 3 for 4 with an RBI and run scored. Lexie Boyer went 1 for 4 with two RBIs and scored one run. Makyna Higdon was 1 for 2 with an RBI and three walks. Kianne Wahpekeche went 1 for 3 with two RBIs in the loss.
Shyann Shipman went 0 for 4 but drove in two runs. Karlie Norwood also failed to record a hit and managed an RBI. Rylee Walker reached base on four walks.
McLoud batters walked 15 times in the loss.
Brittany Harwell started for Prague, going six innings and striking out two. She also walked 14 of 15 McLoud batters.
Diana Manning picked up the win, going one inning. She surrendered one walk.
The losing pitcher was Gabby Sears. She pitched 6 2/3 innings and struck out four.
Prague returns to action Tuesday when they head to Meeker. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
McLoud will travel to Chickasha for a doubleheader. Start times are 5 and 6:30 p.m.
