CLAREMORE – The Lady Wolves rallied in the seventh inning, but left two runners in scoring position and lost to Claremore 6-5 in district play.
Halie Wilson led off with a single followed up by a Tatum Sparks single. Kristin Haddox followed suit with a single
that scored Wilson. Carly Torbett drove in the second run of the first inning with the Lady Wolves' fourth single.
Shawnee committed five errors in the bottom half of the first and Claremore scored four runs. They would tack on two more and held a 6-2 lead after two innings.
Shawnee made the game interesting in the third inning when Wilson singled and Tatum Sparks followed up with a triple. Torbett managed brought Sparks home on a sacrifice and the Lady Wolves trailed 6-4.
In the seventh inning, Shawnee had back-to-back walks from Trinity Streater and Wilson. Sparks hit a double that scored Streater. The Lady Wolves were unable to capitalize and left both baserunners in scoring position.
Sparks was one home run shy of hitting for the cycle. She went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Harmon went 2 for 3 with two singles. Wilson went 1 for 2 and scored a run.
Stormee Reed pitched a complete game loss. Reed struck out two.
Shawnee (9-5, 1-2) will travel to Glenpool Friday for a doubleheader. First pitch in game one is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
