In a update the initial accident story posted early Sunday morning, a Shawnee man who was injured in an accident at Harrison and Interstate 40 remained hospitalized on Wednesday.

Shawnee police have released the accident report that shows Jarrett Tye McCoy, 22, was driving a 2005 Toyota southbound on Harrison Street approaching the eastbound I-40 off ramp when it appears the vehicle veered to the right and struck a light pole. The accident occurred about 6:50 a.m., the report shows. A witness reported the driver appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed before impact.

The officer noted in the accident report that he located “approximately seven containers of Air Duster” inside the vehicle, and one of those was reportedly found in the driver's floorboard, according to the report. The officer's narrative shows there appeared to be no attempt by the driver stop; the report listed the driver's condition as apparently normal. McCoy was extricated from the vehicle and went by REACT EMS ambulance to OU Medical Center with unknown injuries, the report shows. Wednesday, a nurse supervisor at the hospital said McCoy remained hospitalized in fair condition.
