LATTA — The Pirates of Dale blasted eight extra-base hits Thursday in trampling Stonewall 16-2 at the Latta Tournament.
Bryce Crawford had Dale’s only home run as part of a 3-for-3 effort which included a double. Crawford also tied teammate Ike Shirey with four runs batted in and scored three times.
Shirey collected two doubles. Also doubling were Cooper Hunt, Karson Hunt, Cade McQuain and Jared Rogers. McQuain drove in three runs.
Cooper Hunt, who went all four innings on the mound, surrendered four hits, fanned seven and didn’t give up a walk.
Dale finished with 13 hits in four innings. The game was stopped on the run rule.
“We pitched it well and we hit it well,” Dale head coach Eddie Jeffcoat said.
Dale, 10-4, will continue Latta Tournament play at 5 p.m. today against Latta. The tournament is scheduled through Saturday.
