GLENPOOL — Shawnee received the best of both softball worlds Friday in sweeping Glenpool, 2-1 and 17-7.
In the opener, SHS was the recipient of a quality pitching outing from freshman Stormee Reed. Reed, in a seven-inning stint, allowed four hits, fanned two and walked one. Glenpool scored in the sixth.
Shawnee scored the winning run in the sixth when Carly Torbett singled and came home on a game-winning triple by Saidey Smith. Torbett and Smith were 2 for 3 in the opener.
The Lady Wolves also scored in the third as Hailey Wilson led off the frame with a triple and scored on a Tatum Sparks sacrifice fly. Sparks doubled in the first inning.
In the nightcap, Shawnee received a stout hitting barrage. The Lady Wolves rolled up 22 hits and closed out the game with a 10-run fifth.
Wilson went 4 for 5 with a double and two runs batted in. Sparks was 3 for 4 wih a home run, triple and five runs batted in. Kristin Haddox had two doubles and a single while scoring twice.
Laynie Rimer, also 3 for 4, notched a double and two singles. She scored twice and drove in two runs.,
Scottlyn Wilson, who pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, earned the pitching victory. She gave up just one hit.
Starter Bailey Enright went the first 3 2/3 innings.
Shawnee, 10-5, will entertain Bethel Tuesday in a 4:30 varsity/JV doubleheader.
The Lady Wolves have a makeup twinbill scheduled Wednesday at Tulsa Edison. The two district games are slated for a 5 p.m. start.
Shawnee has a 3-2 record in District 5A-3.
