KELLYVILLE — Caden Wolford recorded 36 and 62-yard touchdown runs Thursday night as Meeker launched district action with a 32-8 triumph over Kellyville.
Wolford’s scoring dashes came in the first quarter as Meeker jumped out to a 14-0 lead. Dawson Stansberry grabbed a 2-point conversion pass from Jacob Martin after Wolford’s first scoring play.
Martin made it 20-0 at halftime on a 33-yard scoring run in the second quarter.
The Bulldogs stretched their advantage to 26-0 with Martin’s 6-yard scoring run in the third quarter. The 2-point conversion attempt failed.
Kellyvllle followed with its only touchdown, a 10-yard gallop by Colton Ayers.
The Bulldogs concluded their scoring in the fourth quarter when Dakota Gabbert grabbed a 64-yard pass from Martin.
Wolford was the game’s leading rusher with 20 attempts for 183 yards. Martin aided with nine carries for 68 yards.
Gabbert had two receptions for 65 yards. Noah Breedlove caught two passes for 24 yards.
Meeker outrushed Kellyville 259-154.
Meeker upped its overall record to 4-0. It was Kellyville’s first setback.
Gabbert was Meeker’s leading tackler with seven, followed by Breedlove with six and Xavier Masquas with six.
Meeker will entertain Jones at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28
