Shawnee native Chris Copeland recently qualified for the 2019 Boston Marathon. To qualify, one must run a 3:05:00 qualifying race time. Chris placed 22nd overall with a time of 2:58:05 in the 2017 Memphis St. Jude Marathon.

While in Shawnee, Chris was a State Champion tennis player 2007, Valedictorian 2008, and Eagle Scout 2007. Chris graduated from OSU in 2012 with a BS, MS, and CPA. He is employed by Continental Resources as an auditor. He and his wife Kayla live in Oklahoma City.

Boston is the world’s oldest marathon, having been run annually since 1897.  30,000 runners participate and 500,000 people watch, making it New England’s most viewed sporting event.  It is run on Patriots Day each year. The race course runs past Fenway Park where a game is in process.  Players and fans come out to cheer for finishers.
