ROLAND — Junior Cameron Gunville accumulated 250-plus rushing yards Friday night, propelling Seminole to a 44-12 blitz of Roland in a District 3A-3 opener.
Gunville produced five touchdowns, four coming in the opening half as the Chieftains piled up a 30-6 advantage.
Chico Baker tallied Seminole’s other touchdown.
Passing plays were few and far between because of the constant rain and muddy field conditions.
Seminole’s reserves played most of the fourth quarter.
The Chieftains had two defensive starters injured in the game. Seminole coach Mike Snyder said juniors Steven Johnson and Daegan Angel had ankle mishaps.
“Daegan probably broke his ankle,” Snyder said. “That makes the third defensive starter we’ve lost.”
Snyder said Gunville received good support from his offensive line. “We did a really good job up front. We came off the ball pretty good and got after them.”
Seminole will be home Friday night against Lincoln Christian in another district conflict.
In a preseason 3A-3 coaches poll, Seminole was picked to finish second while Lincoln Christian was picked to finish third.
