MARLOW — Beth Denney and Taylor Hodges homered Thursday as Prague averted elimination at the Class 3A Regional 4 Tournament with a 10-3 victory over Jones.
In its first game of the day, Prague fell 3-2 when Tishomingo posted a run-scoring single in the bottom of the 11th.
Prague hit Jones with a six-run binge, including a 2-run homer by Hodges, in the top of the first inning. Hodges went 2 for 4 with four runs bated in.
Denney, who blasted a roundtripper in the fifth, was 3 for 4 with two runs batted in. She also scored twice.
Diana Manning added a 3-of-3 outing, all singles, as Prague finished with 16 hits. Adisyn Auld and Brittany Harwell chipped in with two singles each while teammate Josi Goodman tripled and scored twice.
Denney, who pitched seven innings, gave up seven hits, fanned two and didn’t issue a walk.
Prague, 23-10, trailed Tishomingo 2-0 after two innings but netted two unearned runs in the top of the sixth.
Tishomingo outhit Prague 8-7 in the 11-inning contest.
Karsyn Coleman propelled Prague’s seven-hit attack with a triple and two singles.
Harwell drove in two runs.,
Prague must capture three victories today, beginning with a noon elimination game, to advance to next week’s state tournament.
