EDMOND – Shawnee committed five errors in a 8-6 losing effort to Class 6A powerhouse Deer Creek.

Deer Creek scored three runs in the first, three in the second and two more in the sixth.

Shawnee's first two runs came in the top of the first inning when Saidey Smith reached on a single. The next batter, Tatum Sparks went yard.

In the second inning,, Saidey Smith reached after being hit by a pitch. Kristin Haddox brought her home on a single to right field, bringing the score even at 3-3.

The Lady Wolves managed to take the lead in the fourth. Hallie Wilson walked, and Sparks hit her second home run of the evening. Haddox followed with the second Shawnee homer of the inning.

Stormee Reed pitched a complete game loss. She surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and struck out four.

Shawnee will host regionals Oct. 4. Their first game will be at 12 p.m. against Nathan Hale (Tulsa).
