SEMINOLE — Supported by a 348-yard rushing output by Cameron Gunville, Seminole handed Lincoln Christian its first defeat, 50-31, Friday night.
Gunville carried the ball 41 times, including touchdown romps of 18, 59, 60 and 11 yards.
Chieftain quarterback Cade Hammond posted a 3-yard touchdown run and a 42-yard touchdown pass to Sabion Battles. The latter concluded the scoring.
Seminole led just 24-17 at the intermission but broke the game open with a 20-7 advantage in the third quarter.
Seminole placekicker Jaxon Smith opened the game’s scoring with a 28-yard field goal and also converted four extra-point kicks.
Hammond connected on 7-of-9 passes for 127 yards without throwing an interception.
Seminole also didn’t have a turnover.
Chieftain Joey Harrison intercepted a second-half pass in the end zone to thwart a Lincoln Christian threat.
Seminole improved to 2-0 in District 3A-2 and 5-0 overall.
Lincoln Christian fell to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in district play.
The Chieftains will play at Idabel Friday, Oct. 6. Idabel was at 3-1 overall and 1-0 in 3A-2 entering Friday’s game at Tulsa Webster.
